Join the Barre Historical Society & Museum for a special Liberty Elm Dedication Ceremony as we celebrate community stewardship, local history, and America's 250th Anniversary.
Last fall, with the generous support from the Barre Savings Charitable Foundation, a new Liberty Elm was planted on the Common in honor of the nation's semiquincentennial. During this project, it was discovered that Barre Boy Scout Troop #26 had planted another Liberty Elm on the Common in 2008. Although the tree has flourished over the past 18 years, its dedication plaque was never installed.
This ceremony will recognize both Liberty Elms with the installation of new commemorative plaques and honor the individuals and organizations whose efforts helped make these plantings possible. Former members of Troop #26 and others involved in the 2008 project have been invited to participate in this special event.
Come celebrate Barre's commitment to preserving and growing our community's landscape while reflecting on the lasting impact of planting a tree for future generations. You'll even have the chance to see the original 2008 Liberty Elm, now thriving nearly two decades later. All are welcome.
